Ability to use an external editor for editing content

Another nice-to-have: the ability to pick up $VISUAL or $EDITOR from the environment and spawn the user's preferred editor for editing multi-line tasks. One might do this via a key-chord during current task-editing, or one might have a command-line switch to spawn an external editor.
